Film Review

 

After finishing the film, I can wholeheartedly say that I am excited to turn it in. My group and I have done as good of a job as we possibly could, given our limited knowledge of the editing software and equipment used. However, I feel that what we learned this year in class was a huge asset to us when filming. When looking back on our film, I believe that the group and I did a very good job using the techniques that we learned earlier in the year. In the script, we used careful word choice in hopes to make the film realistic. We also used carefully chosen camera angles to give the best perspective for the audience. I think that we also selected music that well accompanies our film. I feel that we did the strongest in the editing process. We were able to trim scenes to the right length. We were also able to edit out unwanted noises that could be heard in the background that would take away from our film. In the editing process, we also fixed other issues. One of which was to remove an object from the frame. The object was very heavy, and after a couple tries from myself and a group member, we gave up. In post-production, we were able to remove it without any problems. We also did a good job on the titles. We spaced them out well. We added in a nice font. We made sure the music was good. Lastly, We came up with creative names for the director, film company, etc. All in all, i am excited to present this project and have it graded.

Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

  The first short film to analyze, is 9 by Shane Acker. The film is about a rag doll who lives in a miniature junkyard. In the beginning of the film, the main character is working with a friend to get a lightbulb to work. While doing this, a monster is shown to be working in the shadows. The main characters friend notices and tells the main character to run as they stay behind to fight off the beast. The main character turns around to watch their friend, get easily overpowered and killed by the monster. This monster then turns its attention to the main character, chasing it until the main character can get out of sight for a few seconds. At this point, the main character devise is a trap to jump on top of the monster, which does not work out. By the end of the film, the main character is backed up on a ledge, while the monster creeps towards it. Group Blog (2022/23)

   I would like to do my A-level film in a group. Last year, I expressed my uncertainty on the topic of groups. I stated how I often found it easier to work by myself because you have full control over all the components of the project. I went on to say "You do not have to rely on other people, and you will not be dragged down if they forget their work". I remember stating that there was no clear answer, but this year, I have come to a conclusion. I decided that the best way to go is to put my trust in the abilities of my group mates. I would like to partner with Max, Jibril, and Alec because I believe it will make creating the film easier. Max is someone who can point me in the right direction. We have been in many of the same classes over the last couple years and we have gotten along very well.
