Production Blog: Filming

 

Yesterday, we filmed. The process was more difficult than we anticipated. After school, we were all tired. We did not want to film, but we did it anyway. To start off, we got to Taylor‘s house half an hour before sunset. While we were there, we reviewed our plan and made sure nothing was standing in our way. And once we were sure that we were ready, we went up to the rooftop and waited for the sun to start setting. And once it was time, we started filming. The filming process went smoothly. We were able to get it done in less time than we thought. When we were done, we took a break and ate some of the marshmallows that we roasted. We spent some more time going over the film. We noticed what we liked and planned any adjustments. We then re-shot any scenes that we did not like. This process did not take too long. we had little to change because we did almost everything correctly the first time. We then went over the film again. because we liked it, we saved it to a shared file. We then made plans for editing. We did not spend too much time thinking about this before we got too tired. We then headed home and prepared for the next step.

Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

  The first short film to analyze, is 9 by Shane Acker. The film is about a rag doll who lives in a miniature junkyard. In the beginning of the film, the main character is working with a friend to get a lightbulb to work. While doing this, a monster is shown to be working in the shadows. The main characters friend notices and tells the main character to run as they stay behind to fight off the beast. The main character turns around to watch their friend, get easily overpowered and killed by the monster. This monster then turns its attention to the main character, chasing it until the main character can get out of sight for a few seconds. At this point, the main character devise is a trap to jump on top of the monster, which does not work out. By the end of the film, the main character is backed up on a ledge, while the monster creeps towards it. Group Blog (2022/23)

   I would like to do my A-level film in a group. Last year, I expressed my uncertainty on the topic of groups. I stated how I often found it easier to work by myself because you have full control over all the components of the project. I went on to say "You do not have to rely on other people, and you will not be dragged down if they forget their work". I remember stating that there was no clear answer, but this year, I have come to a conclusion. I decided that the best way to go is to put my trust in the abilities of my group mates. I would like to partner with Max, Jibril, and Alec because I believe it will make creating the film easier. Max is someone who can point me in the right direction. We have been in many of the same classes over the last couple years and we have gotten along very well.
