Production Blog: Costumes

 

One of the many things to consider for our project was the costumes. We had a general idea of what was going to happen in the film, but we weren’t sure who was going to wear what. In one of our original concepts, One of us would have played an alien in the film. This means that one of us would have had to wear an alien costume. We found that it was difficult to buy an alien costume and meet our standards, so we decided not to use one. Now that we know what the four of us are doing, we need to decide what to wear. Context clues given in the script can help us with what to wear. The characters make implications that they had been spending the day together, having fun. Taking this into consideration, we can narrow down our list of possible costumes. Using this, we will dress as though we had been spending the day outdoors. Casual clothing, tennis shoes, and hats will all be present. The costume design is obviously subject to change by each person, so this rule will not be strictly followed. For example, Wyatt decided that he wanted to wear boots, and because they represent him, we allowed it. We spent a long time thinking about costumes and implementing that into the film. When we wanted to change our costume, we would let the other group members know. There were never any issues with the costumes. To conclude, the customers that we selected for our film were chosen specifically to enhance the viewing experience. They were chosen to represent us. We chose the clothes based on what we thought would look good. We also chose them wisely. We wore what the character might have based on the day they had.

Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

  The first short film to analyze, is 9 by Shane Acker. The film is about a rag doll who lives in a miniature junkyard. In the beginning of the film, the main character is working with a friend to get a lightbulb to work. While doing this, a monster is shown to be working in the shadows. The main characters friend notices and tells the main character to run as they stay behind to fight off the beast. The main character turns around to watch their friend, get easily overpowered and killed by the monster. This monster then turns its attention to the main character, chasing it until the main character can get out of sight for a few seconds. At this point, the main character devise is a trap to jump on top of the monster, which does not work out. By the end of the film, the main character is backed up on a ledge, while the monster creeps towards it. Group Blog (2022/23)

   I would like to do my A-level film in a group. Last year, I expressed my uncertainty on the topic of groups. I stated how I often found it easier to work by myself because you have full control over all the components of the project. I went on to say "You do not have to rely on other people, and you will not be dragged down if they forget their work". I remember stating that there was no clear answer, but this year, I have come to a conclusion. I decided that the best way to go is to put my trust in the abilities of my group mates. I would like to partner with Max, Jibril, and Alec because I believe it will make creating the film easier. Max is someone who can point me in the right direction. We have been in many of the same classes over the last couple years and we have gotten along very well.
