Production Blog: Set

One of the most important things about a good film is the set. One of the most important things to consider is what the area behind the scenes looks like. One of the main concerns about a film set is the lighting. We are going to address this problem in three different ways. The first way is natural lighting. . This will come in the form of a fire that we will all be sitting around. As of right now, we do not know how big the fire will be, and how bright it will be, but we know that it will be a main source of light. this natural sort of light will make the scene more realistic. The second source of light will be artificial light that we cannot control. This will come in the form of light from other apartments and other buildings. When Taylor described where she lived, she mentioned that there are other tall buildings near her and other townhouses that share the space. This means that they will more than likely be giving off the light, helping us out. Lastly is artificial light that we do control. This will be lunch that we bring with us, set up there, or are already installed. . And one main issue with this kind of lights is that they are often too bright because they are close to the subject. The benefit of this is that we can control them, and can’t make decisions on the fly about whether or not they are feasible. Other issues about the same are the amount of noise. And this will also come in different forms. The first type will be natural noise. This can include the wind, the trees, and possibly even birds. One issue that many people do not account for is the crackling of the fire and how if not dealt with carefully, can interfere with the microphone and people trying to speak. The biggest issue will have to contend with is the wind blowing in our microphone and giving us unpleasant noises. Next is artificial noise that we cannot control. This will more than likely be in the form of cars passing on the streets below. As anyone who has ever been anywhere near a street can tell you, passing cars naturally make a noise, people revving their engines could bother us, and cars honking at each other is another issue that we will have to contend with. Lastly, we will have to deal with artificial noises that are under our control. These noises include but are not limited to, the squeaking of chairs, and the air conditioning unit that Taylor says is housed on her rooftop patio. And we are prepared to deal with these issues, and if worst comes to worst, we can edit them out in post-production.
